Revenue & Growth standards
Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR)
Core AssetMRR is the predictable total revenue generated by your business from all active subscriptions in a single month. It excludes one-time payments, service fees, or hardware costs. To maintain data integrity at Fihavizx, we recommend netting out delinquent payments after 30 days to avoid artificial inflation of growth.
Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) × Total Number of Paying Accounts
Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
The full investment required to earn a single new customer over a specific period. This must include marketing spend, sales salaries, and overhead.
Churn Rate Definition
The percentage rate at which SaaS customers cancel their recurring subscriptions. We distinguish between Customer Churn (logos lost) and Revenue Churn (dollars lost). High-growth firms aim for negative net revenue churn.
Metric accuracy is the mechanical floor of strategy.
Efficiency Multipliers
Advanced indicators used by private equity and venture capital to determine the long-term viability of a subscription software model.
LTV Calculation
Life Time ValueThe estimated net profit attributed to the entire future relationship with a customer. It is the lighthouse metric for determining sustainable CAC limits.
Magic Number
Efficiency RatioMeasures the output of a dollar spent on sales and marketing. A ratio above 0.75 typically indicates a "green light" for aggressive capital deployment.
Rule of 40
Balance IndexA principle stating that a healthy SaaS company's combined growth rate and profit margin should exceed 40%. It forces a trade-off between scale and sustainability.
Why standardized definitions matter.
Most organizations operate under "drift." One department calculates churn based on seat count, while another uses dollar value. This creates a friction that prevents decisive leadership.
At Fihavizx, we treat the SaaS Metrics Library not just as a dictionary, but as a governance framework. By aligning your team around these specific definitions, you remove the "war of spreadsheets" and pivot focus toward operational growth.
Need custom KPI architecture?
While these standards apply to 80% of SaaS models, the remaining 20% of your business is unique. We help bridge that gap with custom business intelligence frameworks tailored to your specific product-led growth motion.
